Being as there's alot of new blood in the room, who didn't play in R'leyh back in the day, I just wanna take the time to explain a couple things concerning this room differs then most...
I run a successful dark fantasy LARP (live action roleplay) chapter, and over the last few years I've learned alot of things concerning what players like (or atleast, I'm fairly confident concerning that statement)...One thing, and this is really the biggest thing, is stimulus...
Alot of rooms don't have stimulus as this one does (or atleast, as I try to throw out), in the sense of the house, the grounds and the like being completely interactive...If You poke around, You -will- get stimulus, I guarantee You (granted, if I'm online at the time)...
Stimulus allows a player avenues and pathways otherwise not available in other mediums...Even in other rooms that aren't as interactive, plot wise (something else I'll touch on shortly), You're not going to waste Your time going there if the other players won't give You notice (thereby, stimulus)...
Another thing we're hoping to convey here is plot...Many rooms have plot, so I'm not going to claim we're lords of that, but not all rooms have as open ended plot as I personally believe we do...Just like the chapter I run, this room is completely open to -any- player whom wishes to get involved in the ongoing plot...Hell, You may not even realize You're involved in plot, until it could be too late...
Because of this plot, some characters played by myself, or other administrators, are not to be considered player characters...They would, for all intents and purposes, be NPCs (non player characters), and as such are plot devices meant to push the ongoing story and plot (characters such as Renfeld R'leyh, Randal Mcalister, Leigh R'leyh, Ckthonick, Adilon/Soul Render, The House itself, ect. ect..)...This being said, please be forewarned, such characters, if they've been assigned NPC status, are usually EXTREMELY POWERFUL and oft times EXTREMELY DANGEROUS...
In much the same way a television series, or movie, might have their reoccuring, main characters, so these NPCs hold that same amount of foreboding (i.e. You're not going to see Buffy get killed quite so easily in her own series, now are Ya?)...This by no means is to say these NPCs are somehow unkillable...It simply means that they will not pull punches, should reason be given them In Game to act aggressively, and unless You know Your opponent, don't automatically assume a bullet to the brain will do anything save give an NPC a headache...
R'leyh is a dark, very dangerous place...So those that muck about with such NPCs and end up finding themselves dead, have no right to complain and whine...
Be advised, there are a couple of player characters who, in my opinion, are damn near demi-godling NPCs as well (The Dragonic Xaviera and Lostrus, being the two that come to mind)...Muck with them at Your own risk...
Character histories - If You have one, or atleast a general description of Your character, please send it to Rleyh@hotmail.com if You wish to be included in such things as random chaos and so forth (kinda need to know who's what and so forth, to allow it to make sense and so forth)...
Unless You are a registered adminstrator, please do not play characters directly involving the house itself...The reasoning for this is simple - We have been doing certain things with certain players, evolving their characters and so forth, by those characters dealing directly with the house and/or those characters that are directly linked to the House (Renfeld R'leyh, Randal Mcalister, Leigh R'leyh, Macy Locklier (to an extent) ect. ect.)...By doing so it confuses these players and muddles up the proverbial water of the plot we're trying to forward...
**Note, Charaters Like Lost, and Dasiv have been told how the house responds to them, so there posts are aproved. **
Please be advised, as I'm sure someone may take some of the things above negatively, that such is not my intent at all...Over the last few years of running my LARP, the single most rewarding thing has been watching my players be genuinely entertained...Recently, after returning to the room with the new blood, I've found this quite entertaining as well...In the end, if I (or another administrator) fucks with You and throws plot and situations at You and so forth, don't take it as a bad thing...We're simply hoping You'll enjoy it and run with it...
All we ask is, don't be stupid about it, as we don't wish to see people's feelings hurt, or have characters they've been playing for years now, killed needlessly over such things as ego and no good sense of their own actions...
And, once more, much thanks to those who're playing...It's been exceedingly entertaining to read and watch...
